Staff Spotlight: Sam Bullington
This month’s Staff Spotlight shines on the wonderful Sam Bullington, who has been a valued member of the Keystone team for a little over five years. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and the many ways she continues to support our clinic and families.
Sam first discovered Keystone through her Special Olympics golf coach, whose partner worked at the clinic. Intrigued by the work being done, she applied to become a BT and completed the RBT Academy, spending time working directly on the floor. While she gained meaningful experience, Sam realized that a full-time RBT role wasn’t quite the right fit for her long-term. Thanks to some creative problem-solving and support from leadership, a Front Desk position opened—allowing Sam to stay at Keystone in a role where she is better suited.
Over the years, Sam has worn many hats. She briefly helped with scheduling and continues to maintain her RBT certification, stepping in to support the clinical team whenever needed. When asked what has kept her at Keystone, Sam shared that while she appreciates the leadership and positive work environment, it’s ultimately the kids who have kept her rooted here.
Born in Texas to a military family, Sam spent much of her childhood in Colorado. She currently lives with her sister and enjoys spending her downtime curled up with a good book or watching a scary movie. When she’s not at home, you might find her at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo—where her sister works—strolling the grounds and visiting the animals. If time, money, and energy were unlimited, Sam says she would love to backpack across Europe. Having already visited London and Paris, she hopes to explore more of the countryside and additional countries—though London will always hold the title of her favorite city.
When asked what advice she would give to someone considering becoming an RBT, Sam shared a perspective she wishes she had heard more often early on: no session is ever wasted. Whether a session is spent pairing, running trials, or managing behaviors, every moment has value. ABA is hard work and often misunderstood from the outside, but despite the challenges, Sam believes the work is always worth it—and each day brings a fresh start.
We are so proud of the growth Sam has shown throughout her time at Keystone and are incredibly thankful to have her as part of our team.
